Kidsafe Victoria, as part of the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia, is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to the prevention of unintentional death and injury to children.
Since Kidsafe’s establishment in 1979, the number of children killed by unintentional injury in Australia has more than halved. However, every year in Victoria, approximately 20 children die and over 100,000 are treated in hospital as a result of unintentional injuries.
As a not for profit organisation, we rely on generous donations to work towards our vision of 'Making a safer world for kids'.
The funds will assist us to:
- Provide community education and injury prevention awareness campaigns and programs in the areas of road, home water and play safety.
- Deliver face to face, practical, evidence based injury prevention presentations to community groups including new parents groups.
- Develop and distribute evidence based resources e.g. antenatal education resources, ages and stages fact sheets, home safety checklists, child restraint safety height chart plus many more
- Support parents to create legacy programs that contribute to community change of behaviour and action, ultimately potentially saving future lives
