About this cause

OASIS CENTRAL COAST

Help us to support people in our community the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The Salvation Army OASIS CENTRAL COAST, located at Wyong opened its doors on 27 November 1999, a joint collaboration between The Salvation Army, local and federal government and community members.  With a staff of 5, the mission of the Centre was to provide services and support to young people, designed to promote their well-being.  Some programs that we provide for young people to promote well-being includes case management, counselling, education, training, social activities and welfare support for those who are disadvantaged and at risk of being caught up in homelessness, crime and social isolation.

Over more recent years the OASIS CENTRAL COAST has experienced extensive growth to meet the diverse needs of the broader community.  With 15 staff and more than 200 volunteers connected to our Centre, we provide a range of programs, services and support to meet the needs of our local community.  We provide vocational training and work experience opportunities in our Community Shop, Pop Up café, Business Administration and Workshop.  We have a range of life skills short courses to engage people to build their confidence and self-esteem.  We provide community support through our community meals program, shower and laundry facilities for the homeless, and welfare support.

Whilst our social enterprises provide some income for our Centre the majority of our funding is reliant on the Red Shield national appeal and the generosity of the local community. .

WHY ARE WE COLLECTING FUNDS?

We have people walk through our doors everyday who are in real need:

  • Families living in their car
  • Young people who are homeless couch surfing or living on trains
  • People who have lost their job and can't find employment
  • People living with mental health - depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and no confidence
  • People living with addiction
  • People who are alone with no family or network of friends
  • Children who are neglected

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Every little bit helps, your donation could:

  • Provide someone living on the streets with a meal, groceries or other food crisis service
  • Maintain the shower and laundry facilities so that homeless people can have a shower and wash their clothes
  • Support our in school programs and after hour drop in activities for young people at risk and suffering from neglect
  • Court support for young people and others who have no family support of support networks
  • Social programs to engage and build relationships with people living with mental health, addiction and other issues affecting them and their family

Help us to support people on the Central Coast to break the cycle of disadvantage.   Get involved in your local community and make a difference.
